getting Administrator permission

I'm trying to download Maxtor backup software and it refuses to let me install in Program Files folder. It says I need permission from the Administrator...that's me (this is a single computer at home), but I don't know how to give/get that permission. Can anyone give me the steps to get there? right click the file and select "run as administrator"

hi .. I hav changed my os from windows xp to windows 7 ultimate x32bit , i copied some files(videos,photos)from desktop to d\: before changing os,but nw wen i try to open those files or copy to external harddrives it is showing a message ''you have to take permission from administator to allow this action'' ..i dont knw why it is showing like this... Please help me to solve this problem..
