Ok so im getting a new SSD/HDD on sunday and I would like some help/suggestions :D

Ive been told getting an SSD will up my windows rating from 5.6:( SATA II HDD. Will it be as simple as getting a new SATA III SSD and installing it? Will my computer work with an SSD? Do I just go and buy it? Any help would be appreciated :D

Your computer looks fine to handle most SSD's. Any particular brands, sizes, speeds etc? It'll be easier if we narrow it down.

Well I haven't really looked into it. I was thinking of getting one just for the system.

Any brands to get other than others?

That's good to hear. The reviews weren't. I seemed if you got a good one you were OK, but if not.... So, it's good to hear you got a good one.

Your MB supports SATA 6Gbyte so yes it should be a simple operation to install a SATA3 SSD. You need to make sure that your BIOS is set to AHCI and then you can install windows just like on a HDD.
If you have any more questions just ask away, there are a lot of people here who can help :)

PS in answer to your other question I use Vertex2 SSD's and am very happy with them :D
and that's good advice from essenbe!

I have also used Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu Linux
And all other Windows from 95 to date except ME
I would recommend a Crucial C300 or M4. They have great 6 Gb/s performance and are reliable and you can get them for a good price.

The site below should give you a good idea of what brands to buy.

Best SSD & HDD April 2011 | Hardware Revolution

I'm also Victorian, so if we can find a good product, I can help you find a store around your area that sells them cheap. I know a few small computer shops that sell hardware and components just as cheap as buying online.

Anyway, some good brands that sell SDDs/HDDs in my opinion are (in no particular order):

I've linked all of them to their websites if you want to have a browse of them. I have both WD and Seagate hard drives and they're great. The rest I haven't used but Intel is generally a good brand so it's safe to trust their products. Samsung is also pretty big in the technology industry so it would be safe to assume that their decent too. I've never used Corsair or OCZ products but from what I've heard, they're quite good.

By the way, what's your price range? And would you prefer space or speed? Hard drives have more space by far but solid state drives are a lot faster.

Alright but are there any other factors which make others better than others? Speed Wise

My budget is $200AU and its only for the windows core. So i would prefer speed
