I just signed up so I could ask this question because I'm absolutely stumped. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and recently I've installed VMware to run a virtual machine.

However, since doing so, whenever my computer starts or reboots, it no longer goes to the desktop. Instead, it stays at the login screen. I don't know how to make it not do that. Help me!

What accounts are shown at the logon screen? Did VMware install a 2nd account for some reason? I use Oracle VirtualBox so am not familiar with VMware.

Boot to Safe Mode and uninstall VMware, see if that helps?
Do a System Restore from Safe Mode to before VMware was installed.

After reading your post, I input netplwiz and found that VMware was considered an additional user. I've since taken care of the problem. Thank's for aiming me in the right direction in a way!

Hello Jaymus, welcome to Seven Forums!

I believe VMware adds a startup entry to the msconfig startup menu that may be causing the issue, while you're in safe mode checking what Ztruker suggests uncheck the entry in msconfig, startup and be sure to post back here keep us informed.
