Getting programs to not "stick" together in Superbar

Hey guys,

Just wanted to shoot off a quick question, hoping someone has run into this and could offer a helpful suggestion.

Firstly, I have setup the Windows 7 superbar to never group programs and they appear similar to the way they do in Windows XP. I am now trying to figure out a way to get the programs to not "stick" together (e.g. when I launch firefox, all of the firefox icons open up adjacent to one another, instead of at the end of the last application that was opened).

I know this is probably a rare request because everyone seems to love the way the Superbar currently works, but I figure it never hurts to ask.

Also, I would politely request that if you intend to contribute to this thread with a response that is akin to "just get used to the new superbar", than I ask you to kindly ignore this post and continue along with your life.

Did you do anything to Windows to make it act different? Was it always like this? Have you tryed a system restore?

right click in taskbar

click on properties

you will see a menu bar on right of the dialouge box which opens

Select the task bar button and scroll to never combine and select it. Your pinned icons will not be overlaid icons any longer in the taskbar but will me similiar to those in Vista

He has already done those steps. However, the windows of the same application will still "stick" side-by-side. All browser/messenger/notepad/etc windows will move as a single cluster if you drag them around on the taskbar. Needless to say, I'd like an "unlink" option too.

In short:
- It is impossible to organise the order of the windows within the same application.
- You don't have the complete freedom of organising your windows as the windows of same application are "linked" together.

I know this is probably a rare request because everyone seems to love the way the Superbar currently works, but I figure it never hurts to ask.

It's hurting me too. Did you ever find a solution for it?

Unfortunately I still haven't found a solution. I've resorted to just trying to keep fewer Windows open at a time, which limits my enjoyment. I come from the background of having a 1920x1200 resolution monitor and having about 20 windows open at the same time, increasing my productivity and effectiveness. Now I try to keep the number of Windows open at the same time to 8 or so.

I would love to see some sort of option to bring back the freedom of un-grouped applications/windows that XP had in a future Windows 7 Service Pack.

Unfortunately I still haven't found a solution.

Download the relevant file, install it and there you go! It is EXACTLY what you need.

Windows 7 rocks with that small extra application. I use Google Chrome where I can re-organise the tabs and close them with a middle click. With that app, I can do the same with my taskbar windows! It's awesome!

And of course... it can un-link the grouped windows too.
