Hey guys,

Not sure if this is posted elsewhere,

Does anyone know how to get rid of excess notifications?

specifically the stupid action center flag (unless it has something useful to say) i would love to get rid of,

i know you can "hide" them so they only show on notification, but it doesn't ACTUALLY hide them, it puts that annoying little arrow which shows them whenever you roll over (which i hit all the time trying to get to icons that are ACTUALLY use)

anyone know how to make it so they they completely dissapear untill they show a notification?

Thanks,

Johnny

From what I've seen it will show even if you have no notifications that need to be addressed. Hovering over it will tell you that there are no notifications needing to be addressed (I forget the exact message). To my knowledge there is no way to actually remove it.

Yea, i know that it is picky, but i hate having the little arrow there even more than the flag (its just like hiding inactive icons in xp / vista) which for some reason really got on my nerves.

I like my screen real estate, and i hate having pointless notifications,

pet hate maybe?

Will that stop it from checking for updates / antivirus etc OR just remove the icon from the notification bar?

i want the services to run, just in the background untill an error / warning pops up preferably

If you don`t like the action center remove it from your taskbar.

Right click on the notification arrow and click properties. Then find Action center and chose off option and u are done.

It wont bug you again..

ahhh... very nice...

just a question but, will it still notify me of any new windows updates?

am i better off just running the command to manually check for windows updates (can't remember it off the top of my head but got it at work) on the 2nd tuesday of every month?

So you want to hide it all the time, except when you want it to show something after you told it to hide forever?

So this guy is kinda a :sarc: but since this is the most recently updated thread on this and I had this exact question that I figured out for myself and thought I would share.

Right click on the upward pointing arrow that is to the left of the flag and choose properties. Now like the other poster said you can turn it completely off, but I want to know if I have new updates or whatever reason I want.

There is a little blue link below that says Customize Notification Icons. Click it, and set the flag to be the same as the others - only show notifications (from show icon and notifications).
