Getting shortcuts to stick into taskbar?

Thanks KenC and Alphanumeric. I little early in the morning to impliment these approaches as I have to go fishing first. But, when I get back, they'll be plugged into my new computer's Win7 taskbar.

Fishing wasn't too bad here in sunny and hot SoFL; got 4 nice large mouth bass on the ol' fly rod. Anyway, thanks again for sharing your expert help. I've not got all the programs I routinely use on my taskbar - real neat and quick program execution.

The only program that had to be "custom" fit into the taskbar was Revo Uninstaller. It just would got in with any of straight forward methods. Had to use LilDomii's folder method. Intellectually still wondering why this program is so problematic.

Later on when I get thru tweaking, I may try the Quick Launch method suggested by Kucing13, if i find that I have many more programs to add. Right now, I think I have all that I need and the whole taskbar is just about used up.

Glad its sorted for now :)
Lol, expert help? Me? :p

sorry to bump an old thread, but can anyone help me tack control panel's "sound" icon to the taskbar? i can't get a shortcut of it to work.

alternatively, and actually ideally would be if there's a way to choose which audio output you want (say between internal and external speakers) from the volume mixer which i already have pinned to taskbar. it seems like this would have to be an option but i just can't find it.

What you describe I do though my "Realtek HD Audio Manager" application, not though the windows sound setup icon. I can pin the Realtek icon to my taskbar but not the windows sound icon. Look for what ever program that was installed with your sound card drivers and see if it will do what you want.

i actually want to scratch the idea of getting the sound icon as a taskbar icon and just figure out how to change outputs from the volume mixer. it seems like this would have to be possible with all other audio options it has.

You could set the Notifications area Volume icon to "Show icon and notifications". Then it would be pinned in the notifications area near the clock. When you right click that and select playback devices that will open the Sound window that you get by going though the Control panel.

As for the Revouninstaller the solution is quite simple:
For some reason "Installer" seems to be a protected name
So just rename the EXE to REVO or something and you can pin it to the taskbar no problem.

The content menu for the programs in question (they do appear in the start menu) do not have "pin to taskbar. Interestingly when I check out the program's exe in its folder by right clicking, the content menu has "unpin from taskbar," but it is not in the taskbar...as far as I can tell???

If it says "Unpin...." then it is definitely pinned somewhere on the taskbar.
