Getting "Unkown user name or ..." while connecting to other computer

Hi friends ,
I have to PCs with windows 7 installed on them in a workgroup . I get " logon failure .Unknown username or bad password" every time i try to connect to other one of course in both directions whilst i am sure of my credentials .

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

I've tried Homegoups and it works . But I want to solve this problem because i face it in some places which is not possible to create a homegroup!
