Getting very paranoid - is Windows updating my sounds?

I just realized that when I log onto my Windows account, it makes a slightly different sound. And when I plug in my USB stick, same thing. I did not change any of these settings, and the sound just sounds like a polished version of the original sound.

Is this part of a Windows Update that I'm not aware of??? Please, I've searched everywhere for this answer.

Did a recent Windows Update, update your audio drivers? If so, that's why!

You know what, the sound from plugging something into USB and disconnecting from USB changed recently for me too. And I have no idea why.

I just looked at the list of Windows Updates, looking into the previous poster's idea, and there are only MSE definitions in the past couple weeks....so I'm confuzled by this too.

Hmmm....I've changed wallpapers quite a bit....but I'm not sure if I switched the whole theme. I'll have to investigate that tomorrow when I am not half asleep.....if the answer is that simple then I will feel rather stupid.....lol. Thanks for the suggestion!
