Ghosts

Personally, I believe that ghosts exist, but not in a manner that they could be perceived by anyone alive. However, I do find the subject interesting, and have been watching a lot of GHI on SyFy. I find this program more interesting than Destination Truth, because I feel that the investigators are somewhat more objective once you get past the promos.

I think that the investigators on Destination Truth are somewhat more brave, because of the destinations and environments that they visit, with or without ghosts, etc.

It seems obvious that such programs would not fare well, unless there were a lot of believers. How many here believe in this sort of thing? I'm not asking to pick a fight or belittle anyone, because I definitely believe in the supernatural, but not in this vein.

I'll certainly give you the benefit of the doubt, but I can't say the same for some of the people I have come across on the internet.

It would be cool if they did though.

There is always an explanation to 'unexplained' phenomena and a ghost is always more interesting than some mundane reality.

Claiming something is 'haunted' is a viable explanation? :huh:

The fact of the matter is that there is a logical and real explanation for anything and everything. However, just because an explanation does exist, doesn't mean we will ever be privy to to them.

The human animal is by nature, a curious one. Which is why, in the absence of irrefutable proof, we strive to create 'proof' that seems plausible and logical enough to satisfy our curiosity.

All questions have answers but not all answers will ever be known.

About the only part of your last post that I agree with is the last sentence, but the reason that some answers will not be known is because that they require greater understanding than is possible via knowledge of the physics of the universe.

True enough, but with many people it wouldn't be possible to change their beliefs regardless of what methods might be tried. I believe that both you and I regard our beliefs as true (at least in these regards) and everyone else's is wrong. But I respect a person's right to be wrong.

Very true. Although sometimes it's fun to try despite knowing the inevitable outcome

I have spent a lot of time in various forums attempting to "enlighten" some people, but I never really considered it fun, because I began to feel like Don Quixote, and lost causes only bring fatigue and sadness. The only thing that was somewhat humorous was how I anticipated their responses and could reply in a fashion that would bring a smile to my face, that they couldn't see, because I have never cared for the use of smilies.

I know the feeling. You can only bang your head, or let it fall on deaf ears for so long.

And that is exactly how I derive my 'fun' from it. But in regards to this particular topic, I'm treating it as friendly banter.

I have never cared for the use of smilies.

Funnily enough, I never cared for the use of them either.

But in this particular medium where words or a phrase can easily be subjected to misinterpretation, I find them to be an expedient way of portraying the tone of a message, that hopefully diffuses misinterpretation
