gigabit connectivity between two systems through cate6

i have two systems and a cat6 cable. can i just connect both though this cable and expect gigabit speed? NIC on both pcs are gigabit capable.,
ips of same subnet will be assinged to both pcs.

As long as the application you're using supports it and the physical environment does not have any heavy electrical interference then yes! Remember that you won't get true gigabit speeds and may lose about 50 - 100 meg from network overhead and TCP windowing

It's cat 6 cable.
It's in straight through configuration.
Does it matters if it's in straight through or cross over combination.?
Nowadays all most devices are mdi mdx capable.

If your devices support Automatic MDI/MDIX crossover then no problem.
