Hello,

Will be using two desktop PC's in house for the first time now.

Have always had a hard wired Ethernet cable between Router output and the one desktop pc.

New PC coming with, apparently, some "wireless" capability.

a. Can one of the PC's be connected to the Router wirelessly (and the other thru the Ethernet cable) ?

If so, where are the Settings to do it, and how would I go about it ?

b. Or, is it better to try and set up a GigaBit "Switch", and have both PC's use it ?
Would this be better than one PC wireless, and one PC thru the Ethernet cable ?
Why ? Any caveats or gotchas doing it this way ?

Thanks,
Bob

Robert11, ethernet will always be faster unless the wireless is 802.11N. Yes, you can do 1 wired and 1 wireless. Most routers provided by the service provider will have up to 4 ethernet ports. If your service is new and they are coming to set it up, a decent rep will work with you to get it all set up. If they do that, be sure to pay attention, take notes, get yourself printing and print out the router configuration as well as create a document with all setting like login/password for the router and all email settings for proper communication to and from incoming/outgoing mail servers.
