ok, figured while I was looking around in this board, I might as well post about an issue I'm having when recording lets play videos on my pc.

the audio is rather glitchy and artifacty when recording the game play footage, yet when I play the recorded file back on my pc, the audio is perfectly fine in the recording. I'm wondering if maybe this is a bit of user error on my part that I'm just not aware of or something like that.

the program that I use to record my game play footage is OBS, or open broadcast system. while recording, the audio that my pc plays back to me sounds funky, glitchy, and artifacty during the actual recording, but its perfectly fine in the actual file after the fact, so I'm wondering if maybe my pc, or maybe obs is somehow trying to delay the audio, and maybe thats whats making things sound glitchy?? I legit have no clue, all I know is that it just does not sound quite right, yet always is after the recording is over and done.

anyone have any ideas, or is familiar enough with obs to know what might be going on here? I have to be honest, I have not the slightest clue whats going on that makes it sound so glitchy during the recording, yet is always fine in the recorded file after the fact.

I'll be honest mmd you sound like an audio nut a bit like myself. Unfortunately I don't use that software or that card and the problem to me sounds (no pun) like it could be as simple as the card slot or any cables you have hooked up in the machine and what you are hearing going in is different to what you are hearing going out could be due to something as simple as that.
So what do we do about it first obvious thing to me is to reseat that card after cleaning the slot and connectors - see this and pic.

SLOT CLEANING

Now as for the slots toclean them use a strip of old credit card (or any card thin enough some arebetter than others ) about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off one end - preferably round them offhold a piece of thin lint free cloth over theend dab on some form of alcohol - isopropyl alcohol (what we swab the skin withbefore an injection) is good and GENTLYswipe along the slots.

This can also be done for the GPU slot/s andalso the contacts of the sticks or cards - not the stick but some lint freecloth of course. See my pic for the sick but please be very gentle doing it ifyou are in any doubt - please ask before doing it but I use this all the timeand have yet to damage anything
Then thoroughly check any cables and plugs sockets etc for what are known as dry joints - soldered joints that have drifted apart or cracked.

Next this could simply be the card circuitry so check it thoroughly for any caps that are bulged or have scorch marks on them or the board.

That will do for starters.
