So um. Does anyone know if MS stated when we should receive the stuff (rough time frame)?

By 10th of October.

Thought I heard that somewhere, had it stuck in my head but wasn't positive, thanks for confirming.

Hmm, so delivered means shipped on Oct 10th or on your doorstep Oct 10th? I'm guessing it'll be shipped on Oct 10th, but I just want to make sure.

Also, I hear the disc is a one-time installation. I hope not, I'll be buying a new computer in a few months and I don't want to have to also buy an Operating System. Or could I just back up everything and put it on the new hard drive and everything would work?

It is a totally normal Windows installation DVD. Installing only one copy, as told on the House Party website, means you can install and activate either a 32-bit or 64-bit copy, not both. 32-bit is the signature edition, 64-bit as an additional DVD.

Otherwise, it's just like any Windows DVD you buy. You can reinstall if needed.

i work for DHL and we had 100`s of them come off the plane from the states last night.
the packs are a little bigger than a shoe box and in windows blue with a big 7 on

I do not worry about it, my moms boyfriend delivers my mail.

Though I know what you are talking about, I've had my mail 'misplaced' by a postal worker before, then he was fired.

yeah and that one postal carrier that was recently fired for stealing 3200 netflix dvd's. i'm sure mine will arrive just fine, i've had much more valuable things delivered to my house with no incident, but i was thinking about it because some people arent so lucky. my sister is constantly having to have things resent to her house because she has the worst mail lady in the world i think. i'd imagine that some of these copies will come up missing.

I was a confirmed host, then for some reason was changed to an inactive finalist. I'd done everything mentioned - voted, posted comments, inviting guests, etc.

No idea why. It claims I wasn't amongst the first % of people to confirm. However when I first confirmed (about 5 minutes after the email arrived) it said I was a confirmed host on the screen.

Not very happy at all. I'd already paid a deposit on catering.

I've emailed House Party but no response yet.

Whoah i need to check mine. No specifics on why cancelled? How can you be finalized and then not in the last percentile. I waited like 2 days to check my email before i got back to them and finished registration and all that. I was surprised to hear i had won anything let alone a free copy of 7 lol

No idea. They haven't responded to my emails.

I asked a journalist friend of mine (with News Ltd) if she knows of any prior issues involving House Party. She's going to check up with her US contacts (Australia here) to see if they're aware of any.

We're having the party. My friends and family will not really notice that it is a Windows 7 party, if not for the balloons and all. I am always geeking on the tech stuff when we party.

So, I talked it out with my apartment people, and I can have the party as a part of my job even. So, I'm in charge of about 40 people, now I need to make it attractive and informative, not just about Win7, but tech in general.

my party has grown so large that i had to move it out of my house. my dad is a preacher so luckily i'm able to use his church to host it. and i've got a local tech store loaning several new windows 7 computers for the guest to play with as well as an HD projector for showing a film since im doing the media mania party. i'm looking at aprox 120-130 guests so far probably more by the time it gets here. so many people here are interested in upgrading and i've had a bunch of people calling me about wanting to upgrade. all i had to do to get the electronics store to donate the systems was agree to let them make a quick pitch letting the guests know they could purchase windows 7 and windows 7 computers from their store.

In fact it seems like you are hosting the Launch event for Windows 7 similar to techincal events. You could have the local stores have thier own booths to advertise their products and computers.
