GMA 500 drivers for ATOM powered netbooks

Hello,

My cool game (freeware!) that uses OpenGL for 3D has problems with Windows 7. It runs perfectly on my GMA 950 but runs slowly on a netbook with GMA 500 and Intel ATOM processor.

I know that there was drivers problems. Do you know if they are solved or if there is a way to get rid with them? Or if demanding features like fullscreen antialiasing are enabled by default?

I can't try to find solutions by myself because I don't own this netbook, it is a player who posted on my forum. If you want to test it to try helping, the game is here: http://www.in-poculis.com and I have attached a screenshot.

What's the make of your netbook? Asus? HP? What is the model number of the netbook?

It's a known issue with the GMA 500
Intel licensed the chips used in it from another company, and because of licensing issues niether one has been capable of producing drivers that fully support the features of the 500.
What this means is that the drivers only support OpenGL 1.1 and DirectX 9.
In the next few months there is suppossed to be a completely rewritten driver that fixes this, but I'm waiting to see if they truly deliver.

Shame really, because the 500 is one of the most powerful Intel IGP ever.

Until it is fully operational, I'd reccommend something with the Nvidia Ion chipset for netbook gaming.

*Update*
Intel has released new drivers which improve Aero eta. It doesn't add OpenGL 2.0 or DirectX 10, but it may help the games.

However benchmarks from customers still show poor performance with OpenGL

Hey icefire, It's really interesting the improve you've noticed on your netbook. Please tell me the exact driver version and where did you get it. I installed the last version on intel's site but I didn't get that improvement in my acer ao751 gma 500.
Also I'm aware about the gma 500 potential but I can't make it play hd videos when it's supposed to.
I'll apreciate your help.

Here's my updated windows evaluation. I'm a little embarazed about the procesor test but, wtf.

Pretty cool the improves on video evaluation and I'm not worried about the procesor test since I overclock it when I need more capability from the native 1,33 (z520) to 1,5. Aero looks great!
