Solved Gmail Info Required

Hi folks, I have just found I still have an old email address that I have no way to access as I have forget the password. I tried to gain access by giving the name I used but failed. I tried Mr.G Brown, Mr George Brown, G. Brown and George Brown.
The Gmail address is still getting mail from my ISP which I am in the process of trying to correct.
I was under the impression that a mail account gets deleted if not accessed after a certain time.
I sent the old address an email from a different Gmail & Hotmail account but got no notification it was undelivered.
Any suggestions on how to retry to gain access would be helpful.

I think Google delete accounts if they have not been accessed for nine months.

Hi iko22, I think you are incorrect. I sent an email to it, [email protected] and did not get it returned

If you don't have the account linked to another email address then you'll have to contact their support and hope that they can/will help.

Although googlemail.com is still a valid email server, in the sense that it is still monitored it is now just an alias, all of these addresses and their account data were reassigned to the gmail.com servers, ( think of the way microsoft went from Hotmail.com to live.com and now outlook.com).

Way I understand things although a mail sent to googlemail.com will still arrive in your inbox if you check, the actual account used is the equivalent @gmail.com, and you may have better luck trying to find the account details there.

To see what I mean simply type googlemail.com into your browser and see where you end up

If you still use a gmail account with the same name before the @ then this will be handling the mail from @googlemail.com and the current gmail password will apply to both "accounts"

The googlemail.com address was for some reason given to my ISP TalkTalk a very long time ago the reason for why eludes me. I changed my ISP log in address to a different name at gmail.com but I found the old Googlemail was still associated with my account and they were sending me mail for various things which I never bothered with.
TalkTalk now only have my gmail.com address and alls well.

Gmail has quite impressive eMail management controls, if you are ever getting eMails which for some reason you do not want but cannot stop from being sent, you can go to the online site, log in and create a filter. and then have that filter mark them Read, then either move all such emails to a specific folder, for checking and then manual deletion, or just delete them

Gmail has quite impressive eMail management controls, if you are ever getting eMails which for some reason you do not want but cannot stop from being sent, you can go to the online site, log in and create a filter. and then have that filter mark them Read, then either move all such emails to a specific folder, for checking and then manual deletion, or just delete them
