I have a two part question. My Gmail says at the top of the page of emails that "Gmail won't be supported on Internet Explorer after March 15th, 2021". I am wondering if this means that I can't pull up Gmail at all or like Windows 7, Microsoft isn't supported it but I can still use it? If it means I can't pull up Gmail, I get to my 2nd question.

I will download Firefox if I can't pull up Gmail. When downloading Firefox, you are given the option of "import options, bookmarks, history, passwords and other data from Microsoft Internet Explorer". I would like to choose this option, but I would like them to remain in IE too so I can also use IE. So, if I import these things, the question is: Are they still going to be in IE for me to use, too?

I have not used IE in years, but I am pretty sure that "importing" your passwords from IE into another browser will not remove them from IE.

As for your Gmail question, I'm not sure how to answer that. Hopefully someone else on the board can be of more help.

Google will probably block access to gmail for IE users to force them to move to a modern secure browser like they should have years ago :zip:

All modern browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Edge will import all your passwords and bookmarks from without removing them from the current browser.

If the reason you have stuch with IE for all the time is you want a Microsoft browser then you can upgrade to Microsoft edge with is Internet Explorers replacement - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

garensmith:

I use these 2 browsers:
Internet Explorer 11.0.225 (primary)
Mozilla Firefox 86.0.1 (secondary)

I use Gmail as a secondary e-mail app.

I get the same message about Gmail not being supported in Internet Explorer after March 15th.

If Gmail fails to load in Internet Explorer after that date, I will switch to Firefox.

I already use Firefox in a small number of web sites because they no longer support Internet Explorer.

Instead of using a web interface for email, use an email client. I use Thunderbird. I could go on and type at least five paragraphs as to how to use an email client securely and how modern day browsers are rife with telemetry crap and how add-ons are coded with security plagued Web Extension code. Internet Explorer is very old and you need to migrate from it.

No, an import of bookmarks and what have you DOES NOT terminate anything in IE. It's just an import. Nothing more or less.
