Going from HDD mirror raid to SSD, what I should know?

I have 2xWD black label 500GB in mirror raid. Obviously they are set as primary now.
I want to make the SSD primary, the raid secondary drive and do clean windows 7 install on the SSD.

Before opening the box I would like to make sure about few things.

1. How do you set a mirror raid as a secondary? Do you need to move any jumpers or just set it from the bios?

2. Since I don't have CD on this computer I have to either make a bootable flash drive OR if there is an option to install windows on the SSD from the current setup (while with my existing windows install and the raid as primary) and then switch the SSD as primary and boot from there? Any caveats here?

Anything else i should know before doing the move? :)

Thank you!

If you want to be sure, remove the RAID drives, or just pull the power from them. Install the SSD and do your clean install. Once complete, shut off the computer, reconnect power to those drives, and boot up again. You should be able to verify in your BIOS that the SSD is the first drive the system looks to when booting.

so there are no more jumpers switching like in the past? It's all set from the bios?

yes it seems to be from the bios, thank you for the advice about switching off the raid, that should be easier

Yes, no jumpers. SATA drives don't have jumpers. One drive per port, and you control the order of ports/drives in the BIOS.
