WOW, I am in real trouble and have no idea how to get back to normal:(.
I did something wrong and ended up with the Red Adobe reader badge on everything including all the links on the Desk top. I eventually got rid of that problem, but now when I try to open any Microsoft Word Starter files in My Documents, I get the following message.
“Microsoft word starter 2010 can not be opened. Try again or repair the product in control panel“.
Please, can somebody tell me in Kindergarten language how to get back to normal? I have been into Control Panel but can not find any clues. My 74 year old brain is telling me to go back to Naughts and Crosses, for entertainment:party:.

Hi jvsimo, have you tried doing a system restore to a point before the trouble started?

Yes Dooley, I have tried about 3 times but it won't offer any restore points before today, and won't let me create an earlier restore point. I think what ever I did wrong the first time and caused the Adobe badge being on everything, has caused a deeper problem.

Just read the kindergarden language bit :) Click start button > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore. The restore will not delete any of your files, photos etc.

Office has its own repair feature, that's what the message is pointing you to. In Control Panel > Programs and Features find the entry for Microsoft Office and right click it. You will get two options - Uninstall and Change. Click Change and then Repair.

Thanks a Million BJB:D, problem solved. It took a few minutes to get all settled, but now I am back to normal. Also thanks to the other contributors.
