Well, they go out searching (hunting) them down. Hence, the hunting denotion. Gathering would probably be more of; they know where they are , so they go out and gather them. But we're talking semantics here.

Technically, they wouldn't be considered inanimate objects. Since the grow from small to a bigger size, just at such a slow rate and are alive.

We do take a knife and a bag with us to hunt with. Sometimes you really got to sneak up on them. Never have we found enough to make us ten feet tall. We do have a good time. Spose you could say what a long strange trip its been!

I'm all for anything that gets you out in the woods. I don't hunt game anymore, but I go for shrooms, berries, minerals, fishing, kayaking and hiking and camping once in a while.
