Just thought it would be nice to post a good news item. Installed Windows 7 on 2 older laptops.A Compaq R4010ca and a Acer 5630. I only had a few driver problems , mostly with the webcam on the Acer and I could not get the media buttons working on them but other than that its been really good, and the old Compaq witha sempron processor goes pretty good.
Windows 7 might not have installed those drivers you're missing automatically, but you might be able to find them on the manufacturer's webpage. Even if you only find Vista drivers, they should work too.
