Hi Folks,
Is their any advantage/disadvantage of having FF portable on your pc with a shortcut to it on the desktop, as opposed to installing as is normally done.

Having the portable version allows you to test out many different flavors of Fx: UX builds, x64 and 32 bit Nightlies, the Aurora and Beta branches as well as the stable current Fx release version.

The portable versions do not alter the registry and can simply be deleted when one decides to eliminate it rather than performing an uninstall routine.

I run the UX, 32 bit and x64 Nightly builds on the same computer but did not opt for the portable builds as I don't run them simultaneously and they each install into separate directories by default.

Hi mikedl, my intention was to use FF portable instead of installed one, located on my pc with a shortcut on desktop, what a waste of time, every link opened IE9 which IMO is worse than toothache.
Running it from a USB takes ages to shutdown using safely remove method.

Try the Portable one but copy it to you desktop first actually running it from a USB is very frustrating , a USB stick is fine for backup but always copy it to the PC first.
