Good password manager with Firefox for office pc

Hi,

I am given a Dell PC at work. I have full control over the pc, except when the pc fails and the technicians take it for repairs. What is a good offline password manager that can work with firefox and will not allow other people from snooping at the username and passwords?

Previously I used a combination of: truecrypt, password exporter (firefox extension) for offline storage. All passwords are stored with firefox.

LastPass is very good (for Windows, Mac and Linux) also its free, I use it on all my Computers and cant fault it

What are the chances of the "online" part being hacked?

Seen that a lot these days.

Even if the online part is hacked, the data in encrypted (AES) and only you have the password that is capable of decrypting it. And that password is never transferred/transmitted to Lastpass, ever. The encrypting and decrypting all happens client side. Thus if you forget your password, Lastpass cannot recover your data.

A hacker cannot see your data nor anyone at Lastpass.

Whst good is Truecrypt if he needs to send it to the technician. ... this issue is about securing passwords, not encrypted folders.

if the OP needs a Truecrypt tutorial, then the Sevenforums.com one would be better to use.

How about when the I.T. Department goes to the boss and ask if he/she authorized Billy Boy and Mary Jane to have private encrypted things are their office computer.
Sound to me a good way to loose a job.

Thanks. I already know how to use truecrypt. I currently use that with password exporter. Though the passwords are still stored in the browser when I on the computer. The exported password file is just for backup purposes.

Yes, this is the issue. Securing passwords, personal stuff.

Well, how do I know that the IT technicians are not messing around with patient folders on the computer.

Just go to the boss/management and get permission to use encryption or password protection.
Most companies don't want their system changed without management permission.
