Hi all
Today is a milestone in Computing for me. The OS I've used the longest has finally been wiped from ALL my machines (note this isn't 100% strictly speaking true as I'm still running an XP Virtual machine since I need this to run some legacy hardware and a SAP ERP system.
XP morphed from something fairly unstable in the beginning (remember the OS is around 8 years old) into a solid efficient dependeable daily workhorse that could run everything I threw at it.
Funny how it changed from being labelled as Windows eXPensive at release to being one of the most favorite (if not THE favorite) OS'es of all time.
So apart from time to time use on a Virtual Machine -- Goodbye XP -- it's been a great ride --but W7's time has come.
Cheers
jimbo

Congrats....started with 7000 in January and haven't looked back. Well again like you I have XP on VM Ware Workstation just for fun, and it allows me to test some software prior to ingratiating in into se7er (same with vista). With the stability of se7en there appears to be no reason to step back.

Likewise, said goodbye to an old and reliable friend back in January. Oddly enough, I had to revisit her this evening while I fired up my old P4 workhorse. I never use it anymore but I may pop 7 onto it, or leave XP running, for posterity.

Not used XP since Vista came out in 2006 and not used Vista since the beta 7000 was released. You do have a certain amount of nostalgia for the old OS and you can still play with it thanks to XPM.
Its fun using XPM to install other OSs on as well such as Windows 95.

I use 7 only on my desktop, i only use xp on my netbook now, and that will go once touchscreen drivers are stable and i can use it for everything i use xp for. Once that happens asta la vista.
But im sure there will be a time when i will use xp again.

And a nice bunch of stickers on the front!! All that money for something that glows blue. But thats why we do it kids. all for the bling!!
Still running XP on my primary partition, mainly for my old TV card that dosn't get new drivers nowadays (V-Stream DVB-T100), but I have found some obsecure "Samsong" drivers (that's not spelt wrong on my behalf, Never knew cheap fakes existed as drivers!) that do just about work with Win7 after disabling driver signing and refuse to work on my Vista setup oddly enough.
I'd still run Win98 if it wasn't suffering from dementia and would recognize my memory!
I will buy a new TV card soon and then I'll move XP to a VHD just so I still know where things are on it for tech support to friends.
