Google have released a new video today showing the view through Google Glass.

I would need to know how distracting or not distracting that extra image on the top right corner would be, these glasses better work as sunglasses for when outside at minimum. I already wear glasses for reading, but it seems that google glasses are used mainly outside so I will be ok. They will probably have a price tag of about 100.00 which is ok and justified but I don't care for a mounted camera, I will skip. It seems like a toy really.

What reasons is there to buy them?

FWIW: Way back in the early 1960's, I was attending training on a new navy radar system which required a clearance to be in the building. They demonstrated to the class of about 8 of us, these glasses with a really small Cathode Ray Tube on the side with reflecting mirrors which placed an overlay on your line of site of a radar screen. I found that it was really slick, It was not lightweight but kinda subliminaly, you could notice changes in the radar screen in a flash. It was at the time classifided but they never developed it.

I'm thinking they take pictures of things they are pointed at when voice activated.

I'll take two. The next step is to drop the toy stuff and make it biometric to improve my eyesight

But a miniature video camera that follows where I look - very useful. Just have to train yourself to turn slowly or don't turn at all. Otherwise you get video like my father used to take - a whirling blur.

the applications for it will be endless, think of emergency services ,police etc. presumably the military already have them, i would guess these are an offshoot from military or space development.
