Google search ben does not respond - All browsers

Hello,

I have just recently started to experience a real big problem.

I go to google.com, enter a search term, click the search icon, no response. I don't get any results back.

I do get suggestions right below where I am typing. This happens in ie, ffx, chrome.
I have been forced to use bing to get searches performed.


I have removed as much software installed on my box as possible to clear this up, if there was something causing a problem.

I disabled the windows firewall to no avail.

I have also cleared history and caches. I also removed and reinstalled ffx and chrome.

Bit defender, avg, malware bytes, and hitman pro all come up clean.

My system is win7 pro 64.


What gives?

Well I'm not sure what that means except that something is interfering with your browsing. Possibly your security software or some security application that can affect all installed browsers.

You can try Bleachbit:

Clean Your System and Free Disk Space | BleachBit

   Note

Not to be used for a full cleanup except by expert users as it will screw up your system.

Run it and configure preferences:

Exit the program and re-launch it.

Uncheck everything except the checkboxes for each installed browser:

Click the "Preview" button to scan and see the results (test clean without actually cleaning)

If you are happy with the results - go ahead and clean.

You know that reinstalling Chrome or Firefox will result in the new installation importing elements of your old profile right?

The best way is - backup bookmarks and extensions outside your profile - say to folders on your desktop then go for a full removal of Chrome or Firefox followed by a completely clean install.

Chrome: I don't use it. I use SRWare Iron instead if I ever need to use it.

Firefox: I can help with a clean install if you don't know how to do it.

Yes. I have been running NoScript for about ten years or so. When this started happening, I disabled it to no avail. But that does make sense, since this is cross-browser.

Thinking of my system, the two things I have changed recently, is to change from AVG to BitDefender. I ran, in admin mode, the avg clean uninstall. Also installed VS Express.


I did the BleachBit thing on all browsers.

I removed ffx and the data folder.

Reinstalled ffx.

I removed BitDefender.

Problem still exists.

Did I mention, that I go over to bing and that works fine?

Also it won't hurt to try this:

Open Network & Sharing Center and double click your Network Adapter.

Apply seetings as in the screenshot but in the third image under "Use the following DNS Sever" use the following:

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

That's Google DNS. Make a note of your current settings first. Apply and reboot then test.

This Google no search results just started on my system within the last few days. It appears to be an intermittent condition. I'm using IE11. Deleting files and removing Java hasn't resolved my issue.

However, after I did a complete disk clean-up the issue was resolved. At this time I suspect Java. I had recently, within the past two months, installed Java again and it updated very recently. Java is usually the source of a lot of problems with browsers in my opinion.

My complete disk clean-up:

1. Delete the files in the prefetch directory
2. Run TFC
3. Run Disk Clean-up and clean administrative files
4. Run CCleaner - Cleaner & Registry

I hope that by removing Java, the issue won't return.

How to do a complete Internet explorer optimization?

I just did a complete IE11 optimization per the link above.

I installed AdBlock Plus.

On the IE11 menu bar Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced check the boxes to Override Automatic Cookie Handling, Accept First-Party Cookies, Block Third-Party Cookies

Tools/Internet Options/General check the box to delete browsing history on exit. If you can display the Google search results initially, but after a bit of browsing, you have the problem returns, close the browser and restart. With the delete browsing history on exit checked you should be able to resolve the issue momentarily.

Tools/Manage Add-ons disable all tool bars and extensions, and accelerators. The just enable the minimum essential to browse.

If you have any saved passwords, they will be deleted if you follow the instructions. But, I seem to have fixed my Google issue for the moment.

Download and run full scan the Microsoft Safety Scanner

Run Windows Defender Full Scan, check for updates first on the Help Tab.

Interesting. I waa originally thinking that it is a google problem. But I can't imagine they would make a mistake like this. I though it would have affected so many people they would have heard about it and fixed by now. But I am glad to hear that i am not the only one having this problem.

I went into the developer tools and saw that when I click on the search icon, there does not seem to be any. Network traffic. It is almost as if there is no jquery response to the click.

I do have java installed, but that was done six months ago as part of net beans.

Thank you for that information ThrashZone. I'll quit cleaning my system and removing add-ons now that I know it's not my systems fault.

It appears to be an intermittent condition.

I did some searches to see if anyone else was having these issues and from what I saw, everything was quite.

Yep it's a redirect to ssl so if you go to internet options/ advanced and scroll to the bottom all ssl's are unchecked by default in ie11 and I'm sure most new browsers because ssl is deemed a security risk
So possibly Google made a boo-boo in the new face lift design or ie is acting up
But if Chrome is also acting up it's google.com's blunder redirecting to ssl Oops

Ie10 they aren't unchecked by default I unchecked them manually.

Well, based on what Thrash posted, I checked all the SSLs on the Advanced tab, so I can Google. It seems to work. I think I should be OK until Google gets this sorted out. (Famous last words)
