The text in my google search box has suddenly become very large and very bold. I cannot get it back to normal font size and it is extremely annoying. I realise that this could be a help to the visually impaired but should it not be a choice. I have always used google and don't really want to change browsers. Has anyone else had this happen and is there a solution. It is only google search box that is affected

Here's a few font size settings that might possibly affect the Google Search Box font size. See if any of them work for you.

Fonts - Change - This is the one of the main setting tools for setting various locations of Windows font sizes. Right-click on the Desktop and go to Personalize, Window Color and Appearance. Click on Advanced, and in the drop-down menu, select the item that controls the location where you wish to change the font size. I don't know which would specifically control the Google Search Box font, so you'll have to try each one that could possibly be related to it.

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Accessibility, Select "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages." Click OK, then Apply, then OK.

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, UNcheck all three:
Reset text size to Medium for new windows and tabs, and
Reset text size to Medium while Zooming, and
Reset Zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs.
Click OK, then Apply, then OK.

If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, use command/ctrl - your scroll on a web page to decrease the font size.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions guys but it looks like I'm stuck with it as it apparently has been done by Google. Nothing works. I haven't tried a Greasemonkey script as I don't know what it is. That was also an interesting article by Martin Brinkmann and I shall read more by him.

I haven't tried a Greasemonkey script as I don't know what it is.

Greasemonkey is a firefox add-on that allows you to install small bits of Javascript that customize the way pages behave. Greasemonkey is available here and scripts are available here.

Try this;

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/

and this;

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/

Also, if you use the search bar to open Google, the text size is only affected by what you choose;

As opposed to using the Google site search box;

But you can also influence this by using the nosquint zoom function, and the settings will be retained;

You will have to actually click on the images to see the size differences, they are re-sized by the board software.

Regards....Mike Connor
