Hi, whenever I click on something which results in a new tab being opened in IE9, the text in the tab header shows Google momentarily as if its searching to find the url I am supposed to be heading to and then the correct url text is displayed along with the desired webpage. I cant really take a screen shot because it happens quite quickly but I am interested to find out why this is happening.

Its probably a setting in Google toolbar options to try and speed up loading of tabbed pages but I just cant find it.

If anyones knows, could they let me know please.

Many Thanks

Andy

That's actually normal behavior. Google has their own kind of redirect/linking system that they use for their search engine. Rather than link directly to the sites they display, they create links on their own servers (which links displayed in their search results) that redirect to the site that you click on. It's sort of similar to how tinyurl and other URL-shortening websites work: you click on a seemingly unrelated link that quickly redirects you to the site you want. I'm not sure what purpose this serves for Google, since the links are usually much longer than the ones they resolve to, but rest assured that the behavior you're seeing is completely normal. That's how it works for everyone.

Other Info
I'm running Windows COMPLETELY off a 2TB portable hard drive (since my 300GB internal drive just isn't big enough). It works exactly the same as it would normally, only it has to be constantly connected to my USB port. Obviously. I'll show you how to do it, if you ask! It's pretty cool.

Would that still be the case if say I am on this forum and I click to go to another page within this forum whereby Google is not involved so to speak

Typically, no. To give you an example of how Google handles links, I copied the URL for their link to the wikipedia page for cats. Take a look at what it looks like (spaces added by me to prevent it being an actually link).

http:// www. google .com/ url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CHAQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FCat&ei=X7n8T9T1BYjl0QGX0rjXBg&usg=AFQjCNE6c7rRcraGyKh1AUX9BWRGXXVP0g&sig2=iSrFxHR06ufGAGpSf02RYw

EDIT: Nevermind. I can't figure out how to keep Sevenforums from treating it as a link.
