Google U.K. office makes logo out of 884 4×6 photos
Clay Bavor, who writes a blog and works at Google’s London office, wrote about an ambitious project he undertook with his fellow Googlers to create what he calls a “real” photomosaic. As he puts it, instead of a photomosaic using “tiny, postage-stamp-sized images” he wanted to use high-resolution 4×6 photographs for tiles. The result of his vision is a Google logo made out of 884 4X6 photographs.
The photographs used were taking by Googlers and included “people, places, and things around the U.K.” The resulting masterpiece was put together last Thursday creating a Google logo encompassing a 10×20 foot wall. The photo above is looking at the logo from 100 feet way. A closer view of the logo shows the the individual photos as pictured below.
A time lapse video of the construction was posted on YouTube. The camera used in making the video took a shot every 7 seconds. In real time, the construction took five and a half hours. Of course, that work was condensed down to one minute and twenty seconds for the video below.
