The web can be as dangerous as anything in the real world, yet most people treat online security lightly. In the interest of keeping accounts safe, Google has a few tips an pointers on online security. While most are common sense or have been repeatedly stressed by security experts, it's safe to say that most people still don't apply them.

Interestingly enough, Google doesn't warn users about their own history.

Google systematically collected personal data on individuals since 2006 while compiling its StreetView photo archive. Google 'apologized' and said it 'never used the information', which it 'plans to delete' in conjunction with regulators.

Google Says It Collected Private Data by Mistake and that for more than three years it had 'inadvertently collected snippets of private information'

Google said it would stop collecting data that was 'accidentally being collected' about websites people were visiting.

Kind of like taking advice from a burglar on how to make your house secure.. IMO
There was actually a really cool show on this exact topic.

2 ex-burgalers would find a really insecure house (probably helped by friends of the house) and go in and talk to them. Then at somepoint they would break in, steal stuff and film it. Then they would give everything back, show them the tapes, and make the house really secure, then try to break in again later.

Not sure about the legality, but it was a fun show.

I was thinking of that show when I made the post.. except in this case the burglars are still practicing thier profession.. google is one of the worst violators of users' privacy out there.. and they do absolutely nothing to protect users from sites that serve malware.
