My screen went blue can't remember what it said but I think it had that an unexpected caused windows to shut down and lots of other stuff. I restarted the computer and then straight away did a system restore to a few days ago which also same day I installed 7.
Now 7 is only detecting 512mb of ram instead of my 1.5gb. What can I do???

Gotta say however 7 runs quite ok with 512mb of ram lol

Thanks, but when I type in the max memory and click ok it goes straight back to 512.

I'm quite impressed with how well it runs with just 512 once with the old 1gb ram stick it screwed up and stopped working when I had vista and my goodness vista was so slow with 512mb but 7 to be honest can't tell much difference from 512 to 1.5 lol but still I'd rather all the ram to be working

I think I know what's wrong. I forgot to mention after the screen went blue and I rebooted I clicked on repai and did the memory diagnostics so I'm guessing it found something wrong with the 1gb ram stick and disabled it. Is there a way to enable it again?

You should check that the modules are seated correctly and firm. They might be a little loose and that's why you got the bsod and it's behaving like this intermittently.
