Ok im trying to upgrade my vista to windows 7. I have a fairly nice PC Dell XPS 64 bit with 4 gigs of ram. The installl goes good up untill the "Completeing Install" part. After the reboot my monitor goes black and never comes back up. If i try a reboot and go into save mode i get an error saying i cannot complete the installation in safe mode. It then reboots and starts up normally and the screen stays black. I do have duel ports on my graphics card, i dunno if this has something to do with it or not. If anyone could help me that would be great.

Restart your PC and press F8.

Select on Enable low resolution.

If that does not work, Try shifting to your onboard video. If you are able to verify that Windows is up, then revert back to your graphics card and install the drivers...

Hope this helps...:)

Ok i figured out the blank screen issue. Apparently you cant have your pc hooked up to a 32 inch flat screen hd while installing.......

However i now have a different issue.

Now im stuck in a "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click OK to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."

However when i do restart it it just gives me the same message like my PC is stuck in a loop.

Any ideas?

Can you still revert back to Vista? If so try to perform the upgrade again since it looks like it was interrupted from the installation due to the monitor issue ;)

If yu can access boot menu you need to insure that dvd is checked so that you can boot from it
