Closing firefox and photoshop should not have reduced your processes by >10. If you're running 50 processes and it is still sluggish, it might be your processor, or possibly a slow hard drive...

Windows 7 has a snipping tool that cuts a bit of your screen into a PNG or JPEG, quite easy to use. Start typing snipping into the start menu search and it should come up.

thanks i appreciate it ill do it now and if it does not improve ill just take it back to the store and one more thing if i do end up taking it back is it possible for me to look up about 3 diffrent laptops on the internet i plan on buying and get you took look at the specs for all 3 and see which ones better my old laptop crapped out on me and the company could not fix it so they let me choose which one i wanted and i choose this one i dont know any thing about graphic cards and processors and that mainly what i need i know alot of the basic things though

I would bring it back for another ..with Intel CPU ..
."most of new ones come with new i3cpu"
You should not have to deal with problems like this, specially with a new laptop ..
Do it ...while you can ..IMO...:D

If you have the install media for photoshop and you can do a clean windows install, your system would run much faster. Part of what is causing your problem is all the extra factory installed bloatware that came with your computer.. Most of the "features" that came with your laptop are nothing more than a new interface to a function that already exists in windows. The other part of your problem: photoshop loves lots of memory. The more the better. Whenever you have that running, everything else is going to be slower... Working with several images simultaneously or batch editing is best done on a much more powerful machine.

whats better an intel processor or an amd i dont wanna spend extra on a i3cpu because of the store im forced to get my pc from my old pc broke so best buy is giving me a new pc to replace my old one im not going to spend extra money on a pc with a more updated processor so they can screw me out my money later so without includeing the intel i3cpu which processor is better when it comes to intel and amd i plan on editing photos in photoshop playing a few game like fallout new vegas and starcraft2 and I also want to use it for making music

There's nothing wrong with AMD processors. In fact, according to the passmark cpu value chart, AMD pretty much dominates the top of the list for performance/value. Almost all of their processors are less expensive than an intel CPU of comparable performance on their benchmark. You just ended up with one of the slowest ones available. Intel, however, currently has the fastest available CPUs..

That said, if you can return your laptop, do so and when you look for a replacement, get detailed specs and research them all before spending any money. If you can't return it for a refund, get a clean windows 7 disk with no bloatware. First ask the vendor who sold you the laptop.. If they won't give you one, contact the manufacturer. It may be worth it to spend a little money if you have to buy a DVD, but most manufacturers will provide a clean install disk if you are persistent enough, though they sometimes charge a nominal fee for the DVD itself. The graphics card, while not the best one available, will help make up for the weak CPU if you do a clean install of windows and minimize the number of processes that are running.

i have a retail version of windows 7 i have also made factory recovery cds for this pc if i use my retail windows 7 disk to install windows 7 on this machine without all the useless programs that come with it.is it possible to use the factory recovery cds i made earlier to make this pc go back to the way it is now or in other words the way it was when i first picked it up from the store

That might work. CDs aren't the best medium for recovery. HP is usually pretty good about providing recovery disks but the amount of bloat they install in their computers is ridiculous.. (Unless you're willing to pay about $19,000 for one of their high end workstations.. Mine came with unformatted HDDs. I installed windows myself using the disk they provided.) I think it will still be a bit slow in photoshop with a clean install but a lot faster than it is now. If your retail disk is for the same version of windows that you already have, I would recommend calling microsoft to use the oem license key to activate it. If you explain the situation about all the bloat (and how it made your computer so slow it was nearly unusable, I'm sure they will be willing to help. I've done that myself a few dozen times. If not, you can use it on another computer after you return the laptop to the factory condition. That way you still have the the retail license to use on a different computer.. of course if you restore it to the factory condition later

i may just take it back cause if the factory cds dont work then i have lost my own personal retail copy of windows due to the pc having to have windows on it when returned and this pc does not have a data partition on it containing a copy of windows 7 is it possible for me to make a data partition and install my retail copy of windows 7 on the data partition and see if it improves my system is it possible to boot from a seperate data partition
