Solved Got a problem

I have ordered the parts for a new computer which I am going to build, however the Windows 7 I have is a disc and I have not ordered an optical drive. Do I need to now buy one just to use it this once or is there a way around this?

Hi FosterLFC.

Yes there is a way around, you can install from a USB pen drive if you have one and if you dont, borrow one and you will have to install from another computer to the pen drive from the disc.

Extract the ISO using ImgBurn to write to stick or get the latest ISO w/SP1 for your licensed version from Windows 7 official ISO downloads.

As MS tool can be fussy, if it fails use UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive.

Clean Install Windows 7
Additional steps to get a perfect install are the same as for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Okay so I put my computer together and it is working. But when I completed the Windows 7 USB download tool on my old PC to make a bootable device to install the OS on my new PC I got a message saying 'we were unable to run bootsect to make the usb device bootable'. How do I solve this problem?

Use UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive which always works when others don't.

On File tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, select stick in dropdown, Format, Write. Be sure you choose ONLY the stick drive to format.

Plug in the flash drive, open the program, check format, choose iso file, click do it.
