got a returned PC?

hi Everyone,

I recently got my Envy17, and have been doing some bloatware removal. When I go into Programs and Features, I see a bunch of programs that have install dates of July 31 2010. I'm wondering, how is this possible if I ordered my PC mid October and it didn't ship until 3rd week of October? How can there be programs installed back in July? Does this mean I got a previously returned PC which was initially put together in July? thanks

Don't know....
The processor I got is newer than July, it's the i5-580, so that can't have been a return. But the rest of it? Do others of you out there have a newish PC that has programs intalled months before you ordered it?

The hard drives on OEM type systems are built automatically from a master image it is more than likely that the date you see is date that the Master image was updated with those programs

It is actually possible for the install date of files on a hard disk to be older that the build date of the disk,

Some manufacturers will re-set install information to the date that the system is initiated by the end user but this is not common

Yep, its normal. And whats the big deal, most of it would be crapware you'd be getting rid of in any case. For licensed apps, just update or install your own.
