Got a used HP Elite Book, win 10, 4g and intel 17

Got this on a good deal but too old to learn anew op sys. So I have a retail version of Home Premium 64 bit and installed it after re-partitionong the existing drive. So fresh install working well but some programs won't work without some windows updates as this version of Win Home is several years old.
Windows will not update...80072EFE WindowsUpdate_dt000.........so what now? Thanks in advance guys.

Welcome to the forum. Old windows are out of support do a clean install get an iso usb free from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Does your windows 7 installation media contain SP1 or is it too old for that?

If you tell us which HP Elite Book it is, we can probably find official installation media for you.

That 80072EFE error is no longer about Service Pack 1 only. Selfupdate of the Windows Update Client has stopped working also. Your new prerequsites to Windows Update are SP1 plus a decent version of the Windows Update Client.

I recommend installing KB3138612.
