Hello Win 7 forums! I recently get my new computer, as my old one was as shitty as hell. I was hoping to transfer my winRAR data/settings (I failed to find a winRAR forum, don't think there is one) By data i mean like the archive configurations, as i would make several sfx archives for people (see Easy Servers (Bukkit)(Instructions)(Plugins)(No-WARNING!) - Minecraft Forum - Page 2 for my work) I mean the little drop-down-box which has default and anything you add in there, i added a quite a few entries and would appreciate having the data moved over rather then me re-typing everything. Anyone who can help with this would be a big help, and would help my project grow!

You could try typing
%appdata%
In the start bar search box and see if any folders located there look like they belong to winrar.
Programs very often keep their settings in that location.
It's not a place you want to be messing around in though, so just copy the folder and get back out.

There is a winrar folder there on my system but it is empty.
I don't actually use winrar though I use universal extractor that just has some elements of winrar.

Didn't quite help me... i already know that %appdata% stores program data, but that was not the data i wanted. I just want to know which file(s) in C:\Program Files\WinRAR\ posess the data i need.

Well you could just install the same version of winrar to the new machine and then copy everything over.
Some uninstaller apps can even find the associated registry entries for you.

I strongly believe WinRAR stores settings in Windows registry.
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WinRAR
Here is instruction how to back registry settings up.
Will try this out sometime, sounds like it would work! But that website does not explain how to install your backed-up registry! (I might figure it out)

it may be easier to simply extract the one piece of the registry since you know where it's located, you can export it with regedit.

Then you can just add the same section to the new registry by right clicking and choosing merge.

Thank You Aafikn

Well basically I do IT support and set up on average 2-3 computers a day. I install WinRAR on all of them. However with the default settings you are given about five or six contextual menu items and its a pain in the @$$ to have to manually go in to settings and remove them all. But now I simply exported the folder from my registry and all I have to do is click the .reg file select okay and i'm done.
Thank for the help.
