Hello good people,
I have recently acquired Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 Suite, (love it), although the rendering is somewhat slow. I saw a tutorial that it supports GPU acceleration, although my system does not at this time. I have diagnosed that I have the latest relevant driver. I automatic update everything. Went to the NVIDIA site but could not download their latest. I am not that computer savvy. What can I safely do to acquire GPU? Enclosed is a snip of relevant info. Thanks in advance for your help, Rusty.

Right, now if you can let us know which driver you have installed.

Click Start :orb: > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device Manager

Expand the Display Adapter option

OK, I've found legacy drivers that support your card, driver version 8.97.100.11. The download is available here. Be sure to set a System Restore point before you do anything, then be sure to perform a clean install of the drivers. Come right back to ask if you need any more help.

That's terrific Mr. Boozad. One question, just to be on the safe side- What exactly does "clean" install mean?

it means get rid of all the old drivers first then install the new one which will be clean of old files and you can proceed to use the hardware with out fear of corruption from old files and input :)

Thank you SolarStarShines. I successfully downloaded both the Catalyst Software Suite & the HydraVision Package - new driver good to go, alas apparently not good enough for GPU acceleration for Sony Movie Studio... Do I have to replace video card? I think I could do that if need be. Thanks for your help people.

Well, well, well. Just out of curiosity I tried rendering another short video with my updated driver and the change in speed is quite noticeable, so I am going to call it good and leave it be. Thanks for all your help good people. I live in Victoria BC Canada, and here is a vid of my favourite seat looking across the Strait of Juan de Fuca towards the Olympic Mtns. of Washington State, USA. Cheers!

Glad all is working at a level you're happy with mate, good news. If you ever look at upgrading your GPU the HD6670 may be a good shout for a cheapish price, it would be a marked improvement on the 4200. You'd have to check to see if your PSU is capable of powering it though.

Thank you kindly, sir. Having read many reviews about the HD6670, I am interested in upgrading. However, checking the psu, and then installing the new card, while I know I could eventually figure it out, I think I'll have the guys who really know what they're doing get it done. My early Christmas present to myself! Cheers!
