GPU Question

Hi, I got a P7P55D MB and I would like to buy a new graphic card or it's for my brother and I am not quite sure what to do, his budget is about 1700 SEK ( Swedish Currency ) I was thinking 2x 7750 2GB since they are cheaper then some other cards, but that card is a 3.0 PCIe while the MB he got uses 2.0 but most 2.0 GPU's are quite thin when it comes to shop having them in stock. And since there are litteraly a million different GPU's I' quite clueless what would be the best performance for money.

Any help or some explanation would be greatly appreciated

PCI-E 3 cards are backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.x motherboards. Don't worry about that.

I think that a single Radeon HD 7850 card would outperform two 7750s in Crossfire, for about the same price. The single card would have the advantage of not using Crossfire.

(Tried that a few years ago with a couple of 4870s. I found the drivers to be problematic then. Maybe they're better now.)

Ye that they are backwards compatible I know of it just seems a bit waste to me since he wont get full bandwidth but I guess that don't really matter, and never used AMD cards before so I'm a bit worried about that too with the whole crossfire thing. But I will look up the 7850.

You won't regret it.

All that I've read suggests that no current graphics card can saturate a PCI-E X16 2.0 slot.

One review site managed to show a small loss in performance with a pair of 7970s used for GPU computing, but software that would expose that is never seen by most people. The effect was modest, anyway.
