Solved Graphics Card Suggestions

Hi All,

I'm looking to get a new graphics card as my current '1GB XFX Radeon HD 6770' is playing up and the AMD driver keeps crashing. I have tried many times to update drivers and i still get this issue after a re-install of windows (re-installed windows for different reasons).

I decided now was a good time to replace it, not after anything powerful, just a cheap one for general everyday use... no gaming or anything so want one or two (two? i will explain below) really cheap.

I currently run 2 screens but would like to be able run 3 Screens using DVI.

Option 1
1 Card with 3 outputs?

Option 2
2 Cards with 2 outputs?

Any suggestions on cards would be appreciated.

an nvidia gtx 750ti would do nicely. its rather pokey even at gaming, but will also make for a decent media card/triple monitor setup.
just make.sure you get one with a mini display port.

Cheers for the idea, i already have 3 monitors but only run 2 but unfortunately none of them have Mini Display port, only VGA and DVI.

I was thinking about getting 2 x 1GB EVGA GT 620 Refurb - 01G-P3-2621-RX - Scan.co.uk

Any feedback on this or alternatives i should consider?

you can get a mini display port to hdmi or dvi cable. most modern gpus allow 2 monitors via dvi or hdmi and the 3rd via display port

So... my plan is to buy the following tonight:

Graphics Card - EVGA GTX 650 1GB Factory Refurbished Nvidia PCIe Graphics Card - 01G-P4-2650-RX - Scan.co.uk

Minin HDMI to DVI-D Cable - StarTech.com Mini HDMI to DVI-D Cable - Video cable - HDMI / DVI - 30 AWG - 19 p | eBay

I have never used a "converter" cable before, should it work ok?
Essentially i want a Graphics Card allowing for 3 monitors but my monitors only have DVI on them (and VGA) so need to convert the 3rd monitor to Mini HDMI (based on the above graphics card).

Any other ideas before buying?

Looks good to me, I'm glad you didn't go for the 620, it's a budget card that's comparable to intel onboard GPU's, 650 would be more than enough to run 3 displays for everyday use, I use mini HDMI to HDMI which is pretty much the same as Mini HDMI to DVI-D, it works brilliantly, so much so that i use it for 3DTV play, See screenshots below.

Try GTX 750 Ti its more powerful and uses less power that you wouldn't need a 6-pin power connector

I've actually already bought the GTX 650 (about 20 mins ago), my current card uses a 6 pin connector so I'm ok there.

I did look at the GTX 750 Ti but didn't really want to spend more than £70 and the 650 should be more than enough for general day to day use on 3 running monitors.

Thanks for your input though as i like different options (for me and friends/family)
