Hi guys, I've been working on this problem
For three days now to no avail. I bought a new graphics card thinking my old ati radeon 4670 was the problem ( now have geforce GTs 450) and then bought a new 2tb Seagate drive thinking I would just try a new install of windows 7 In case it was a driver/virus etc. issue( didn't want to lose my old partition in case it wasn't ) So now I'm here searching for possible solutions and haven't found any yet.

It's only on normal startup, safe mode doesn't give me any problems so I'm at a loss here, I think it may be either a psu or maybe bad memory. I ran a windows memory check and it had no problems any ideas would be fantastic!!

Here's a video I just took of startup so you can see what happens, it is hooked up to a 42inch tv via a dvi cable.

just an idea but have you re-installed the video driver. if it works in safe mode using the on-board vga it has to be driver (or card ) related.

Yeah I tried that, I'll try a third time now but this happened before on the old card out of nowhere, I had the old card about a year and a half with no problems my computer does stay on for about 95% of the year.

The reason I got anew card is for the same reason that's happening now. Note is a complete new install with the appropriate drivers from the disc. Then an update with the new drivers and still no luck.

If you have no problems in safe mode, then is is something running at startup. You seem to have a gezillion programs running at startup anyhow because your boot takes forever.

I suggest you run Soluto and weed that stuff out: Soluto

Try to set your video settings to "AUTO" When you get a signal then, you can go back to your favorite resolution.

For test purposes I installed fresh copy of windows on a brand new drive, there are zero programs installed aside from the logitech wireless kand m drivers and the video card drivers

Do you mean that its working,

If so. Might not be the Power supply. Have a look on the Motherboard and see if there are any capacitors that are Bulging from the top ie: BLOWN.

Run Soluto. You will see that you have at least 50 programs running at startup. Some are required system programs, but there is also a lot of junk. Post a snip of the Soluto output and we'll have a look.

The fact that you run OK in safe mode tells me that your hardware and drivers should be OK.

Just checked Luke you said, everything seems to be in order. What I don't understand is why it happened before on the old install. So new drive and new graphics card( old card and drivers have never been on this new drive) it has to be another issue. Would a corrupted or failed ram module do this or even a psu not putting out enough power for this card. It's a 375watt psu and the old card asked for 400 minimum. Would running it for a year plus cause the psu to be damaged in a way that it wouldnt provide enough power anymore ( I heard psus tend to put out less power as they age )

Okay will run soluto right now. Will it run correctly in safe mode ? It's the only way the computer is usable right now.

Hmm, that may not work (never tried it in safe mode) because the buggers may not load. But you'll see. Will be interesting to see.

Okay so figured out that for some reason or another my graphics card thought I had two moniters plugged in. So I was looking at monitor two. Which Is why I had no cursor, icons and also makes sense why when I hit ctrl alt dlt the screen went grey. In hind sight it makes sense at least lol thanks guys I appreciate all the responses they all led me to dig further into the graphic settings so I really appreciate it !!!

Thanks again! Carlos
