I managed to screw up some system files. Downloaded a linux based repair tool and somehow wound up with grub4dos instead of the windows bootmanager. How can I get that back? If i try a repair from an install disc, what system will it boot. Currently I can't boot either. Tried different things and not sure what I have screwed up in grub4dos? Please help

You dont say what system youur using as your info says xp and 11. If its 11 then are you using uefi, secure boot etc on a gpt disk or xp with a mbr disk

To enter command prompt from the installation OS disk (or USB) follow this guide: Command Prompt at Startup

You could also try EasyBCD's EasyRE. EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies

When ever you try a live Linux CD you should disconnect the SATA and/or the power cables from all hard drives. I can't tell you how many times people have hosed over their Windows install messing around with a live Linux disk they know nothing about.

I believe that it is still MBR, not UEFI.

Don't have the windows disk, trying to get one.

Could I boot right into Easy BCD? If I do, what would I want to do? Not familiar with it at all
