I bought a new desktop with vista in it. After upgrading to windows 7, i installed my nvidia driver for GT230. However, after restarting windows 7 goes to the desktop but nothing loads. No taskbar, no explorer, just a movable mouse.

I switched into safe mode and rollback the drivers and used the standard VGA driver, however whenever i try to install nvidia drivers, the same thing happens. Someone help please.

Thanks for the fast reply. But i dun have any TV or second monitor attached. Something is blocking the complete startup. Using the mouse, i can right click and view control panel/create new folders but they are all not working. The screen only shows the background, i think i am in the desktop, its just that the stuff are not loading.

Use ctrl+shift+escape to being up the task manager.

Then go to file | new task.

Type explorer then hit enter.

Alternatively, you may boot to safe mode and install the driver using the device manager. Right click on it, update driver software.

If you still have problems, install the motherboard and chipset drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Both solutions dun work. On further exploring, i realized i could access most folders/files. Its just any that requires VGA to run and most .exe not working. I am currently trying to revert back to the stock drivers for window 7 downloaded from acer webpage to see if it helps.

Using the stock driver for GT230 Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Not working at all. The card worked when i saw using vista. Upon the switch to Windows 7, it has not been working. Any chance of it being a faulty GPU? I only bought it for a day =(
