Well, I just installed Windows 7, and I'm loving it so far. :)

Unfortunately, I just tried installing GTA San Andreas, and the installer reports an error at the splash screen. I've done some Googling, but I can't find anything specific for the game. Help? :(

I tried compatibility mode for XP, SP2/SP3, Vista SP2/SP3, 98, 2000, the works. I think you could safely say I'm well out of ideas. :(

If I remember correctly, the game simply doesn't work in Win7.

Doesn't work? LOL I can run my (heavily) modded GTA San Andreas with my 64-bit Windows 7 just fine. All crashes or bugs I have or would encounter were or are all mod-related. Same goes to my other hundred fellow players and modders at GTAForums. :p

@Vesko96: How about running the game with admin privileges? (right-click, click "Run as Administrator"; or check the "Run this program as administrator" box in its Compatibility settings) It works wonders. ;)

If you're running a version higher than 1.0, try "downgrading" or better yet replace your copy with a version 1.0 one. As far as I know, versions 1.1 and higher are very unstable when run under 7.

Thanks for the advice. And yes, I've tried running it in Admin mode, but to no avail. :(

Also, I'm running the original 1.0 version. Although I'm not sure, where can I check?

Like I said, looks like it's gonna be dual-booting for me. :p

This is kind of strange for me actually. Windows 7 is suppose to be better at running GTA San Andreas than Vista and, in some cases, XP too.

Can you post your specs? Do you have any mods or add-ons installed? Also try reinstalling GTA:SA, that is if you're still thinking of playing it under 7.
