Hello

I recently tried to install GTA San Andreas on my laptop. But after I run the installer I got the following errormessage:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
I've already tried running the installer in compatibilitymodus and tried every OS in the list, no success. Ofcourse I've also tried to run it as an administrator, once again, it failed and Windows 7 keeps on giving me this error message. Is it because of Windows 7 (64-bit), because I read that GTA San Andreas on Windows 7 x86 (32-bit) doesn't work. The game works on my desktop PC with Windows XP.

These are my system specifications:
Acer Aspire 8735g [laptop]

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz
Memory: 4GB RAM DDR3 soDIMM
Graphics card: nVidia GeForce GT 240m 1GB RAM
Storage space: 2 x 500 GB @5400 RPM
Mouse: Logitech G3
I've also got this problem when I'm trying to install Call of Duty 2...
My mate also told me to update my Windows Installer, so I went to the Microsoft website to download it, clicked install to install the latest version of Windows Installer and the next problem appears;

Any support is welcome
The part about the Windows Installer isn't important, I just want to play these games... As I could on my old PC (which has Windows XP Home Edition).

Thanks in advance

Well i can assure you right now, that GTA SA works perfectly fine on W7 x64.

One thing i have to say. Not making judgments or anything, but it seriously sounds like you have a pirated version.
The Retail has a separate installer that identifies your OS, then runs the appropriate installer for x64 and x86.

Well, GTA San Andreas was indeed pirated but my Windows 7 is original as it came with my laptop. I would have bought Windows 7 anyway even if it wouldn't have come with my laptop. I like to have an original operating system.
Thanks for your quick reply.

Happy holidays ;-)
