The drivers are provided seperately for those who want to mix and match or want one particular part of the whole.
I have never tried doing it that way but you could. Why???
I always thought it was a bit odd myself.

The best is to download the entire driver so all features work.> NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL

Hope that answers your question.

You have misunderstood me, perhaps I wasn't clear enough.

I am not asking why it comes in parts. What I am asking is what are each of the parts for?

The graphics driver should be obvious.

The 3D Vision driver, I think, is for games and graphics software supporting a stereoscopic 3D view, the kind where you have to wear special glasses.

The controller driver goes with the 3D vision driver, not sure why this one is even a separate component, to be honest.

The HD Audio driver is for videocards with an HMDI output which also have their own audio device onboard to output audio and video together through HDMI. For example, my laptop has regular onboard audio and an nVidia HD audio device which I never use since I don't use HDMI.

The PhysX system software is good to have for many games which use it for realistic in-game physics. You know, explosions, particles, that kinda thing.

And the update is presumably so the whole nVidia package can update itself. I prefer doing this manually so I never install this component.
