Hackshield parental control bypass?
Guys/Gals,
I have parental controls installed on my sons laptop (MSI w/ Win7 HP). He has started to play Maple Story and HackShield requires admin password every time he wants to play it - Annoying..
Is there a way I can "whitelist" this program? I'm new to 7 and appreciate any comments, and sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere.
Thanks
Mark

I am not familiar with Hackshield, but that should make the shortcut act as if it has admin rights.

After I schedule the MapleStory task (per the instructions & logged on w/ admin privs) and then create the action, Task Scheduler prompts me for a Username and password. I type them both in and it tells me incorrect password. I did not see that the tutorial required this step? Ideas?
Thanks

Hmm No clue...I have not tried to create one, I just saw that you had an issue that this tutorial had covered. I will try and see what I get.

I am also concerned that this work around will not work once the non-admin profile logs on. If I am not mistaken, this shortcut through scheduler will not be on his desktop right?
Just a thought

It might not. I have not played with this much. I wanted to use it to setup some programs so they run without prompting for permission. It might be possible though to put the shortcut on your sons desktop.

Found this earlier - will try this for MapleStory tonight. Not sure if it for Win7 though?
Start -> Run -> regedit -> OK
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\
Right Click EagleNT
Select Permissions...
Click Advanced
Click Add
Type your Windows account name in the text box
Click Check Names, if the name you typed becomes underlined continue, if not type it again and try again Check Names.
Click OK
Check Full Control
Click OK
Check the box that says "Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply tochild objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here".
Restart
You should be good to go

Nice hope it works. post back if it does.
I was thinking this wouldn't be in services.msc, but If it is in regisrty then it might work. The registry is a critical system and you shouldnt mess with this too much.
You might want to create a restore point. I don't know what this change could impact. It seems low impact, but better safe than sorry.
