hal.dll missing or corrupt.

Ok all google gives is fixes for xp. I was first having issues with my wireless, 1 reboot later its fixed so i updated drivers. another reboot hal.dll is missing Sounds like a virus ;-;

How can i fix this with the windows 7 cmd tool of the cd? please help me quickly i dont know how long ill have on this pc.

The fact that that file is missing may actually be a result of a bad boot loader. It is possibly a virus, but run Startup Repair from the Windows 7 CD and let me know what happens.

You can run a system file check to check/repair system files. to run it go to start>search>type cmd>right click run as admin>sfc /scannow

EDIT: Hard to do if you cant boot. My duh just disregard

Man, I know what it's like when you have cargo floating arround. My printer came back from HP and was lost in a UPS depot, NOT. It was just on the wrong shelf.

Are you saying that you have engaged in nefarious behavior and crapped out your install?

this is what to do to get HAL.DLL back

this is what to do 100% sure this works, it looks like a normal installation but it isnt (its gonna install win 7 to a choosen part) after that it will rolback your installation and you will have hall.dll

if you are using windows 7, and you hava a installation cd,you just have to do this:

1. put in your cd

2. install (when you are installing) wait until "copying windows files" is completed

3. after "copying windows files" is finished, its going to the following part
at this part (expanding windows files) you must wait until it is 40 percent

4. if it is 40 percent you must close the installation, after you close the installation
you pc will reboot, you have 3 sec to choose a operating system, choose the installation ROLLBACK (maybe its gonna choose this one automatic

5. when the roll back is finished it will start up your old windows 7 100 % repaired (HAL.DLL is back again)
