To get mine up and running I had to mess with System 32 a bit as other methods didn't seem to work for my system.

I would not advice you to do the same because it involved taking ownership of System32, and manually modifying the registry.
The game is not worth it really..

It certainly isn't. And it definitely shouldn't require such a drastic measure.

Anyway my fix I linked to works. It’s quite simple and doesn’t require any Windows modifications, hacks, compatibility modes, or any other crazy stuff. All you need to do is download an older version of Games For Windows live and follow the game install instructions I posted.

That said, can't (and won't) say it'll work on pirated or hacked copies of the game. My game is an official store bought physical copy. In short, if the game isn't working with the fix I posted, you might have to question the legitimacy of the game.

Good luck.

halo2

I tried uninstalling the latest version of the live program but when I ran halo it required that I update the program. Should I not allow it to do this?? Also, I activated the program when first asked to do so. Does this matter?? It still hangs after all the options have been selected, and after selecting a campaign. All I get then is a blue background and some music.

Hi sailor44, welcome to SevenForums,

The live client deals with updates for games, it's always advisable to update your game to the latest version for stability and bug fixes, I would allow the client to update your game first of all, if that doesn't help then come back and we shall see if anything else works.
