When finishing up our taxes, wifey noted that Google was giving her bum search results. Her version of Norton had expired so before I gave the IRS my credit card info I downloaded AVG 2012, updated its virus file and scanned her system. AVG found some issues and I had it automatically fix them. I then proceded to send up my taxes via TurboTax, all appeared to go well. Two days later my son had a friend over and they 'borrowed' the mouse from that system. When we re-attached the mouse the system booted up as expected to the password screen and shortly after logging in, 30secs to a minute, the BSOD appeared. Stop code 0x0000001E and the display became 'snowy' before the system went back to reboot and the sequence went over and over till I turned it off. I tried booting into 'safe mode' with no luck and even tried several attempts at using 'system recovery' to run check disk /f and sfc /scannow all without joy.
This is a Gateway system, 8Gb of memory, windows 7 home premium version about 2-yrs old.
Which way do I go here to resolve this problem?? Thanks.
