hello, i have another Dell E6400 , came with WIN 7, 32 bit, I got on ebay , I am using for months, but had all sorts of sound screeking and video card display issues (duckduckgo maps and google maps wouldnt load rt.) , so I reinstalled a full WIN 7 (from CD) and now i keep getting errors: "windows detected hard disk problem" errors , and other snags.

rt away I got a error message stating the location of the reinstall of WIN7 was going to a " 0 named part of hard drive and i didnt see C drive listed as a option ....and i checked OK as i didnt know what to do.... as the install went on and finished after 45 min, or so, thats when the disk failing error started to appear.

.. how do i fix where the hard drive has saved WIN 7 ?, (hard drive is 150g only)
thank you !!

i tried F2 to chk BIOS and also F12 where i got errors too.

then I tried the Dell Startup Repair and got various errors,
1. problem signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385 ,
2. problem signature 05: Autofailover,
3. problem signature 07: Bad Disk

I had issues downloading firefox too. i cant download Brave (for 32 bit), pls help. thank you!

Have you ran full check disk you can have file system error which can be fixed but if its a hardware error a new disk is needed

Did you deleted all partitions during the installation?
With only 2G of memory, you must install Win 7 32 bits

As already suggested, buy a small SSD drive.
2.5", 128G internal SSD
SATA III FanXiang 120GB Internal SSD

During POST, press F12(?) to launch the boot menu. You will see one option for the USB drive and one option for the CD-DVD. Select USB (name) or the CD-DVD to install as Legacy-MBR.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.

thank you very much to everyone for the advice.
So Megaherz07, what does this mean: "During POST," ??
and " press F12(?) to launch the boot menu". (you mean press F2? ).

1. at another reinstall last night, before i got your message, i saw there are 2 partitions, 1 is 100G on C drive and one is 100mb , win7 needs over 2.4G , when i tried to cont. on the 100Gb partition it wouldnt do anything kept saying HD failing.... so I am still using it now but with ewrror mesaages of failing HD, so i think it will not last long, yes I want to buy a HD, but is this one suitable (need the extra storage )?

this is better $34.99. Crucial mx500b Well known reliable model and it has dram.

Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - Newegg.com

or this one $34.85 samsung 870 evo 500gb which gives slightly higher testbench results than the crucial mx500 and also has dram.

SAMSUNG 870 EVO Series 2.5" 500GB SATA III V-NAND SSD - Newegg.com

They also both have practically twice the capacity of the fanxiang 256gb you posted and are pretty much the same price.

what does this mean: "During POST," ??

POST means Power On Self Test. That is the time between turning on the pc and booting windows. Usually you will see a DEll logo on the screen during this time.

turn on the machine and start tapping F12

it should pop up a one time boot menu which allows you to select which device to boot from.

I agree with SIW2 that a Crucial MX500 or a SAMSUNG 870 EVO are better SSD but for a very old laptop that has no SATA3, I would buy a cheap SSD.

Any 2.5" SATA SSD will replace the failing HDD
